Business Manager’s Message

Valentino B. Ceria

I want to thank all the members who have been enduring and adjusting because of this pandemic but we can be proud to have weathered through the worse of these turbulent times. As more people are being vaccinated, we can feel a little safer and closer to the new normal.

Another thank you for the overwhelming support and confidence in the new Labor- Management Agreement contract that was recently ratified by members and contractors. The Union’s trustees, President Matthew Brady, Vice President Benji Panis and I worked very hard to negotiate a substantial wage and benefit package for our membership. I also appreciate the help from brother Chuck Shima in assisting with the presentation. Mahalo’s to the members for complying with the safety Covid-19 protocols and our staff for their assistance.

Congratulations again to the elected delegates going to the UA Convention in San Diego to represent Local 675. The delegates have been certified with the UA and listed in this newsletter.

There will be nominations for the International Office at the convention and we will be voting for General President, General Secretary-Treasurer, Assistant General President, Vice President (6 positions) and International Representative (34 positions). We will also be voting on resolutions and new or revised laws that will make up the new UA Constitution. I was also privileged to have been appointed to the Convention Credentials Committee by General President McManus and General Secretary-Treasurer Kellett, and look forward to serve the UA membership.

Locally, I am happy to report that we can finally hold our Apprenticeship Graduation once again. This year it will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center on Saturday, July 10, 2021 honoring the graduates of the Fall 2019/Spring 2020 and Fall 2020/Spring 2021. We look forward to seeing the graduates in person.

As always, stay safe and informed by reading all mailers sent to you and visiting our website at www.plumbershawaii.com.
