Local 675 members assigned to the upcoming major renovation of the Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole U.S. Courthouse will benefit from the signing of a project labor agreement between general contractor Swinerton Builders and the Hawaii Building & Construction Trades Council.

Cost of the first phase of the repair and alteration project is estimated at $75 million. It is the first ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act)-funded island building project and also the first PLA project approved by the Obama administration.

Also pending a PLA though titled Developers Agreement is a cluster of projects in the Kaka‘ako area owned by Kamehameha Schools. The planned facilities, expected to provide some 15 years of work, will be in the neighborhood of the John A. Burns UH Medical School.
