Not until the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration in the mid-30s did organized labor started getting attention and government support for requested statistical data to plan the growth of its respective local organizations. Through the U.S. Labor Department various divisions were gradually formed to provide specific data relating to research and judgments on worker’s compensation insurance, unemployment insurance, on-the-job accidents, and other critical issues affecting employees and obligations by their employers. The labor sector recognizes that while there has been tremendous strides taken since the Roosevelt era, the need for continued scrutiny of labor laws remains imperative. That is not an idle belief when one ties the present economic crisis to the jolt that most trust funds has suffered, due in large part to the catastrophic management of capital controlled by the nation’s financial giants. |
